As I was praying this morning, I heard God telling me there is purpose in your preparation. I pondered that for a minute, because I thought I heard it wrong. I have heard preachers preach on the subject of being prepared for purpose, so I was sure I did not hear the words correctly. I tried to change the words to what I thought was correct. But God, who is so merciful and full of grace, repeated His words and gave me a clear understanding.
I want to attempt to share with you.
There is purpose in your preparation. Can your repeat that with me? There is purpose in your preparation. You see, you have a purpose that you are being prepared for, but you have to go through specific circumstances, situations, seasons, and/or lessons. The purpose is your preparation for promise.
Let me give you an example. Years ago I was diagnosed with a chronic illness (specific circumstance) and I spent many months in the hospital, consecutively (season). During this time, I was lead to move to Atlanta, where God had greater plans.
I also noted how some of the nurses treated me as a patient and I noticed some of the not so great practices of care. The purpose of these things prepared me for the promises.
Here I am, years later living in Atlanta, where I accepted my calling (promise). I came out of the hospital a better nurse, I learned empathy. I gained a respect for nursing and people, which has led me to an awesome, created position, where I also minister on a daily basis (promise).
What am I saying? Look at that season, circumstance, lesson, you are in right now and know there is a purpose to this time. It may be a good time, it may be a bad time, but there is purpose in it. See God. Ask God. Go through purposefully!!!!!
Prayer gives you power to walk on purpose
