There are many examples of name changes in the Bible. Giving us an example of how we change after an encounter with God. If you have accepted Jesus, stop holding on to your past "name" and walk into the new "name" God has given you.
Jacob to Isreal.
Saul to Paul.
Testimony: I was or I considered myself to be like "Rahab". I held unto it for years, in my mind. I know her profession is what most remember about her, but she also had faith. So, I admired that. She heard about God and trusted that He was God bigger than Canaan.
One day, I guess God had enough with my self imposed name, so He showed me my identity. He showed me He changed my name!
Are you holding on to the old name? Do you want to walk in your new identity? Pray. Ask Him to show you who you truly are. Let the old you go , and the new you glow.
Acts 9, Genesis 32:24-28
Anybody like to shop online?! The comfort of sitting at home, peace and quiet, going through pages of clothes, shoes, and handbags! The thrill of finally picking out your items and going to your cart. The anticipation of the arrival of your new items....
What if we could shop online for spiritual growth? What would you shop for? What are you in need of today? Love? Faith? Peace? Joy? Grace? Relationship? Forgiveness? Temperance? Meekness?
We may not be able to go online for spiritual growth but we can reach out via a prayer line. In the comfort of your home, peace and quiet, laying it all at the feet of Jesus! The thrill of speaking with Jesus and hearing what He has for you! The expectation of answered prayers!! Go to the prayer line, Jesus is available to you.
And just like online shopping is available 24 hours, so is Jesus. He never slumbers nor sleeps and He cares for you!!
Psalms 121, Galatians 5: 23-24
I was thinking of ironing this morning, something I try not to do. But I saw a vision of how the heat from ironing makes the wrinkles disappear....
When bad things happen in our lives, many are quick to say it has something to do with the enemy, and maybe sometimes it does. I have come to realize sometimes it is not the enemy, but God, who is pressing me and preparing me for greater. Remember, the Word reminds us that all things work together for our good, when we love God and are called according to His purpose. So, even if it is the enemy, it will still work out for our good! If we remember Job, we will remember the enemy had to ask God for permission before he could touch Job. So he cannot do anything to us, without God knowing. And if God knows, then He already know He is going to give us victory.
When you feel the pressing and the heat, pray.
When you feel the pressing and the heat, trust.
When you feel the pressing and the heat, stand.
Do not give the enemy an open line of credit to your life, Jesus paid your debts.
Romans 8:28, Job 1: 7-12
I am doing a 2 day cleanse. I drink this substance and I am expecting a removal of toxins, impurities, and anything else that do not belong in my physical body.
As I was comtemplating the process, my thoughts were, wouldn't it be nice if we could have a similiar process for sin.
If we could just go to a store and pick up a bottle of sin removal, drink it, and be done with sin forever!
Well thank God for Jesus!!! He died on Calvary cross for our sin. One time, for all!! That is truly a shouting moment!
Confess the Lord, Jesus as your Savior, He will cleanse you. You cannot do it alone. You cannot get it out of a bottle, but you sure are covered by the blood of Jesus!
John 3:16-17, Psalm 51
Do you have a picture of yourself that reminds you of a dark time. A time where you were broken? Hurt? Sad? Abused? Look at that picture, again. Is there anything in the picture that shows obvious pain or are you smiling? Trust me, we going somewhere...
Most times, when someone tells us they are taking a picture we smile and pose. Behind the smile, you cannot see the tears. Oftentimes, we do not want others to know. Look at your picture again.
Thank God that you made it through that moment because He kept you! I want you to know, God will turn your sadness to joy! God knows exactly how you feel and He cares. In those moments, when we are smiling through the tears, God is working it out for our good, and He gets the glory!!!
Recently, I have gained a few pounds, okay maybe more than a few...
I have committed to a new way of eating and I joined a gym.
As I was preparing for the gym this morning, the Holy Spirit reminded me of the extra "stuff" we have when we start this Christian journey.
It takes commitment and dedication to rid ourselves of the "stuff". We have to "go hard" and not give up.
Unfortunately, sometimes that pound you lost may show back up and you have to start over. Guess what? That "stuff" you thought was gone, may present itself to you again. What do you do? Stay committed, do not give up, keep going hard. Stay in the Word. Pray without ceasing. Remember Who has you in the palm of His Hand.
You win! The victory is yours!
1 Thessalonians 5:17, Philippians 3: 12-14
This was a busy weekend for One Word for Life Ministry, LLC. As I pondered on the events, celebration came to mind.
This weekend was a celebration of life and friendships. God did not create us to walk this earthly journey alone. He first blessed us with family and then in His awesomeness, He ordained events in your life, where you would meet friends. Look at God!!! Setting your life up like that! Celebrate God who made you, who keeps you, and who loves you enough to give you friends.
Celebrate the friends He aligned you with. Celebrate the tears and the joy! Know that each moment was God and He planned it for you!
Celebrate life! Eternal life! The best gift God gave you! Celebrate!
Everyday takes faith.
Faith that God will carry you through the day.
Faith that you can do all things through Him.
Faith that you are a walking miracle.
Faith that your family is covered by the blood of Jesus.
Faith that you will do God's Will today.
Faith that you have victory over the principalities of the air.
Faith. Mustard seed size faith.
Faith in God, not you, not man, faith in God.
A cellphone is charged for use.
Batteries are added to flashlights for light.
Various items are plugged into a power source to operate fully.
We too need to plug into our Power Source daily, all day to operate fully. We can do nothing without the power of God.
Plug into your source before you start your day and throughout the day. He will give you everything you need, when you need it.
If you are feeling weak, plug into your Source.
If you are feeling drained, plug into your Source.
If all is well, continue to stay plugged into your Source.
Remember, there is nothing impossible for your Source.
As I was praying this morning, I prayed these words... Lord, I don't want to be perfect, I just want to be better.
As we continue this day, let us reflect on those ordinary people used in the bible to do extraordinary things, by which God obtained the glory.
On this Christian journey, many are consumed with the measurements of men standards. Do not focus on the them, focus on Him.
Our relationship with God will not make us perfect people, but it should make you a better person.
Romans 12: 1-2
Prayer gives you power to walk on purpose
