Yesterday I was having a conversation with a complete stranger about recent events in the news. As we were talking a song came to mind, What the world needs now is love, sweet love.
This man was Caucasian and as we were talking we realized we were both from the same state, ex- military, and other various things in common. He said we are all more alike than we are different. He said we need compassion.
I said we need love. If we can love one another, then everything else would be second nature. We would have compassion, respect, and we would not fear one another. It sounds impossible, but Luke 1:37 reminds us that nothing is impossible with God.
Matthew 22: 37-39 reminds us to love God first, then love our neighbor as ourselves. That had me pose a question to myself.. the people that are killing others, do they lack love for God and themselves?
I know that things look really bad right now, but because of who we are, we have to still trust God and know He is still sitting on the throne. The enemy may think he is winning, but he obviously forgot he is fighting a losing battle.
I will never see this man again, in a few minutes, we became friends. What the world needs now is love, sweet love.
